Stand Judging:

All stands at the HOMEMAKERS Expo will be judged.
Judging will commence at 11h00 on Thursday, 2 August 2018.

Judging Criteria

First Impressions

  • There are many stands at the EXPO. Does the stand cause patrons to stop and view it?

Brand Effectiveness

  • Is the brand immediately legible?
  • Does support material tell what makes the product/s special?
  • Is the display material brand consistent?

Visual Appeal

  • Design, attractiveness and overall impact of stand.

Layout

  • Originality,
  • Ease of access,
  • Uncluttered effect, etc.

Making the sale

  • Are staff accessible, keen, knowledgeable and friendly?
  • Should staff be busy, is effective printed or multi-media material well displayed and accessible?

Additional points to be considered:

  • Is it easy to approach/enter and exit?
  • Use of creativity/innovativeness in design?
  • Is there balance between circulation, product display and product demonstration?
  • Is there any interest point/conversation starter near to the stand frontage?
  • Are graphics easily legible at appropriate distances?
  • Is copy displayed too low (i.e. below 1000MM) or too high (above 19000mm) to avoid being hidden by visitors and is the headline lettering size large enough?
  • Too many buzz words or over-technical copy?
  • Does the stand say what’s in it for the visitor, i.e. solution of needs, provision of benefits?
  • Are the pictorial displays of high quality?
  • If used, is video unit adequately housed or will it appear as an out-of-place after-thought?
  • Are there any items that are not connected with the theme of the stand?
  • Is there too much copy for the visitor to read?
  • Is the display of literature effective?
  • Is the stand well lit? (No distracting glare from spotlights)?
  • Extras in terms of hospitality, e.g. Flowers?

Exhibitor Awards Breakfast:

  • An Exhibitor Awards breakfast will be held on Friday 3 August 2018 prior to the Expo doors opening.
  • Exhibitors that qualify for an award, will be notified on Thursday 2 August after judging takes place.
  • The overall winning Exhibitor will receive the Algoa FM Floating Trophy for overall Exhibitor Excellence.
