Stand Building:

STRUCTURE STABILITY

All materials used for decorative finishes to stands must comply with the following:

  • Be able to pass a test of flammability or for surface spread of flame.
  • Be fixed taut or in tight pleats to a solid backing.
  • Secured at floor level.
  • Shall not ignite when subjected to a flame for ten seconds.
  • Any paint used must be water-based.
  • Cavities and spaces around stands may not be used for storage of empty boxes, crates, cartons or packaging material.
  • If an Exhibitor is having a stand built by a custom stand builder it remains the Exhibitor or their stand builder’s responsibility to ensure a COC (Certificate of Compliance) is issued to the organiser for the stand prior to the start of the Expo.

STAND DIMENSIONS

  • Exhibitors with floor space stands must ensure that the outside measurements of their stand construction fall within their stand size.
  • Thickness of walls must be taken into consideration during planning and construction of stands. Please consult the layout for the exact ceiling height above your stand. The height of the shell scheme stands will be 2.5m.
  • All stands that exceed a height of 2.5 metres in any aspect require a Structural Engineers Certificate. This is the responsibility of either the Stand Builder or Exhibitor. Certificates need to be handed into the organisers to be submitted for Health and Safety prior to the start of the Expo.

CEILING REGULATIONS

Please note that nothing is to be hung from any of the overhead pipes. If any exhibitor needs something hung from the ceiling, he/she needs to consult the Organisers beforehand.

CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE AND LOADING ZONE HEIGHT

  • Exhibitors are requested to limit heavy building and construction in the venue during build-up. It is advisable to pre-fabricate as much as possible off-site and to limit the work in the venue to assembly and finishing.
  • Welding inside the venue must be avoided. Where no alternative is possible, approval from the Organiser is required and a Hot Works Permit must be obtained from the Venue Management.
  • No angle grinders are allowed inside the building, there is space at the loading zone for this.
  • Please note height restriction of loading zone for delivery trucks is 2.2m.

FINISHING

  • Should your stand have walls higher than your neighbour, it is your responsibility to finish the back of the extending wall neatly and in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
  • The ablution facilities are, under no circumstances, to be used for cleaning of any equipment or material whatsoever. Should an Exhibitor be found making use of the ablution facilities to clean any equipment, the Exhibitor will be liable for any costs incurred to clean the area affected.
  • Provision is made for the cleaning of paint brushes etc. at the tap close to the exit on level B1. Kindly inform your staff in this regard.

SHELL SCHEME

  • If you have not ordered Shell Scheme or Chipboard on your contract and you have changed your mind and would like to do so now, please advise HOMEMAKERS immediately.
  • No painting is allowed; no usage of nails or screws. Double-sided tape, Velcro or prestik can be used to affix lightweight items. The Contractors will provide special s-hooks to support heavy products. It is advisable to use fishing line (nylon) to hang pictures, etc.
  • Should any Exhibitor require old PST panels that they wish to paint, please contact michelle@homemakers-sa.co.za

Fascia Board Company Name and Stand Number

  • All Exhibitors who have booked shell scheme, this option includes one fascia board.
  • The company name and stand number for all shell scheme exhibitors is uniform and may not be altered.
  • Names will be printed in upper case 90mm high PVC Vinyl computer lettering.
  • A maximum of 40 letters are allowed. Words such as Company, Limited, Brothers etc. will be abbreviated.
  • No punctuation will be used.
  • Should the company name which you wish to appear on the fascia board above your stand be different to what appears on your contract, please provide us with this Fascia Form directly through HOMEMAKERS
  • Complete Service Form 3.
  • All those who have booked floor space only must provide own company identification & provide own surrounding walls/structure if required.

Walls

  • The walls of the shell scheme are white PST boards and are 4mm thick.

POWER

  • 1 Plug point per stand is fitted.
  • Complete Form 5 for any additional power requirements.

CARPETING / FLOORING

  • Please note that the venue floor is concrete so this year the Organisers have included carpets in all floor space stands.
  • The Organisers will also be carpeting the aisles and other open spaces.
  • Please take great care of both the carpets and the flooring. No cutting/painting will be permitted on the carpets without the relevant protection. Any damage will be charged to the Exhibitor.
  • All Stands will be carpeting in charcoal carpets. If you wish to remove the carpets please notify Michelle at HOMEMAKERS
  • Any damaged or missing carpet tiles will be charged to the Exhibitor at R150.00 per tile.

ALL FOOD COURT STANDS

All food court stands, as per the contract, will include the following:

  • No carpets will be supplied
  • 1 Plug point per stand is fitted.

Please note, should you want to cook with an open flame or make use of gas, please apply in writing to the Organisers at michelle@homemakers-sa.co.za by by Friday, 13 July 2018.

PLUMBING AND WATER SUPPLY

Any Exhibitor who requires plumbing and water at their stand, please apply to the organiser in writing by Friday, 13 July 2018. This will be at the expense of the Exhibitor.

Fire Hydrants may NOT be used as a water supply. They are for emergency use only.

FURNITURE HIRE

Please note – the Boardwalk are able to supply one narrow trestle table and 2 chairs per exhibitor. But it is important to note that the Exhibitor needs to fill in the furniture request form by downloading it here and then submit it to the organiser by the latest Monday, 23 July 2018. Should we not receive this form by then, we cannot guarantee that the Boardwalk will be able to supply this.
