Safety & Security Regulations:
The Organisers provide general security (24 hours per day) for the duration of the Expo, but do not take responsibility for loss or damage which may occur to the staff or property of the Exhibitor due to any cause.
Security Tips
- Ensure all goods of value are safely kept at all times.
- Escort your exhibits/goods to your stand at all times. The greatest risk of theft or loss occurs during build-up and breakdown. Be especially alert at these times.
- Should you wish to make use of a safety sail where shell scheme is used, please place your order directly through HOMEMAKERS. Please note the cut-off date for orders will be Friday, 13 July 2018. The organisers will not have safety sails available to order at the show.
Insurance
- The Organisers carry public liability insurance, but are not responsible for insurance of exhibits on stands.
- It is the responsibility of all Exhibitors to arrange full insurance coverage and to take out comprehensive protection for the duration of the show, including in-transit to and from the show venue coverage.
- It is the duty of the principle exhibitor to communicate insurance cover to third party / sharing exhibitors
Safe Working Practices
Exhibitor staff, contractors and licensees shall be vigilant towards health and safety issues to themselves and others in the area, and shall observe the following practices, which will be monitored and enforced as necessary by the Organisers:
- Understand the procedures regarding fire, emergency and accidents.
- At all times maintain emergency passage through the venue during build-up and breakdown.
- Wear hard hats when working beneath or near overhead workings, or if this is impractical, restrict access to such areas.
- At all times wear suitable clothing relevant to the specific job, which includes eye, ear, foot and hand protection.
- Safely use, store and segregate flammable liquids and substances from waste and other risk areas.
- Ensure that portable power equipment is used for the purpose for which it was designed and that safety guards are correctly fitted and used.
- Ensure that portable electric tools are used with the minimum length of trailing leads and that such equipment is not left unattended with a live power supply.
- Chemicals and flammable liquids must be removed after use from the venue by the user for safe and proper disposal. Such products must not be placed in general rubbish bins.
Liability
The exhibitor acknowledges that the layout of the exhibit area and the large number of people present in the exhibition halls make it impossible for adequate security to be provided to protect the exhibitor’s merchandise and other property.
Accordingly, the exhibitor assumes all risk of loss for their merchandise, fixtures, displays and any other property of the exhibitor located in the exhibition area, storage or any other area where access has been provided to exhibitors by the venue; where such loss results from theft, vandalism or any other damage caused by any agent, employee of the venue or any other person either authorised or not authorised to be present at the exhibition hall.
It is recommended that all exhibitors consult their individual insurance representatives to obtain appropriate insurance coverage.
Fire Regulations
The Fire Department has laid down the following regulations concerning Exhibition stands: (All displays are subject to inspection by the Fire Emergency Services.)
- No highly combustible material such as hessian, straw, hay, sawdust, paper, polystyrene etc. may be used in, or on a stand without the approval of the Organiser or without fire retardation treatment being applied to the combustible material.
- Fabric draping used must be fire retardant, 5cm off the floor and should not come in contact with electrical wiring.
- Solid ceilings may not be erected without the approval of the Organiser.
- No exhibitor may exceed, in any way, the boundary of the allocated stand/s unless arrangements have been made in writing and approved by the Organiser.
- Written permission will be required for the storage of or use of hazardous substances, flammable liquids, gas cylinders, open fires and demonstrations with a naked flame.
- No structure, product or display may be placed or constructed so as to impede the ordinary movement of people, nor may existing facilities or signs be obstructed by any structure or display.
- Fire extinguishers on walls, floors or elsewhere may not be removed or obstructed.
- All aisles and exhibits must be kept clear at all times.
- Absolutely no storage of any kind will be permitted within the confines of the exhibition halls or placed behind stands or curtains or against the wall.
- It is compulsory to have a fire extinguisher on each level of a double storey display.
- Any Exhibitor who requires the use of Liquified Petroleum Gas (L.P.G.) must apply in writing by Friday, 13 July 2018.
Emergency Procedures
- In the event of an emergency in the venue, it is important that all Exhibitors and staff members manning stands, familiarise themselves with the layout of the venue, the location of emergency exits and the nearest firefighting equipment.
- In the event of an emergency it is important that the Organiser be informed immediately.
- Once an emergency has been reported the Security Staff will take control and indicate escape routes and exits to be used.
- Exhibitors and the public are to remain calm and to leave the building as quickly and orderly as possible, adhering to the instructions of the Security personnel.
